Frequently Asked Questions

  • Report the hack to the social media platform. 
  • Attempt to recover the account. For example, by trying to log in and clicking ‘forgot password’.
    • If you can recover the account, change the password immediately, and consider changing the password for your other social media accounts too.
    • If you can’t recover the account, contact the social media platform and request to delete your account entirely.

  • We can help you draft a statement to share on your profiles. This can be helpful in situations where you believe that hackers were sharing things on your account or contacting people on your behalf. 
  • Put your device into Airplane mode to shut off internet access.
  • If possible, get a new device.
    • If that is not possible and you need to continue to use that device:
      • You need to change all of your passwords (for apps, banking platforms, emails, etc.), reset your Apple ID (for Apple users), and reset your device.
      • Consider changing your banking card numbers if you had those details saved on that device.
